Materials for science class:
These are to be kept in your backpack and brought to class everyday!
1. Pencils or Mechanical Pencils with lead - you will need this every day!
2. Composition notebook (the 7.5 by 9.5 bound kind, - not spiral)
3. Box of colored pencils (student preference as to brand and amount)
4. Red pens for grading
5. Small pair of scissors
6. One 12 inch/cm ruler
7. Small hand held pencil sharpener for the color pencils
8. Small bottle of glue
I suggest keeping all supplies (except the ruler) in a pencil bag of some kind, that way they
will be easy to find when needed.
***If at all possible it would be extremely helpful if your student could bring a small box of 20 pencils ($1.22 at Walmart or Target and a box of Kleenex/facial tissue to donate to the class. By the end of the month they have lost all of their new pencils and are relying on mine. We also go through many, many boxes of tissues each month during the Spring and Fall, so extra tissues are always appreciated.
Regarding Science Composition Books:
We will be using the notebooks in science daily, so students need to bring their notebooks to class everyday. These notebooks will be graded and carried with them to 8th grade for Science STARR review.
Policies for 7th grade science are listed below:
Grading Policy: 40% Daily work (homework, labs, in class work, notebook), 60% Assessments (tests, quizzes)
Late Work Policy: Any assignment not turned in by the beginning of the class period it is due, is considered late. Late assignments can be turned in for up to 3 days past the due date, but will receive a maximum grade of 70. Any work over a week will not be accepted and will receive a 0.
Absent work policy: Any make up work is due 3 days after returning to school. After 3 days a 0 (zero) will be entered in Gradespeed. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and get the notes and assignments.
Quiz/test re-take policy: Students who score below a 70 on tests or quizzes will retake them until mastery is shown. Students can receive up to an 80 on retested material.
The Agenda: You must bring your agenda with you every day to every class. You will be writing down your class agendas and assignments in it. You will also use your Agenda for bathroom passes.
